ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Compliance and Risk Specialist (m/f/d) at Pliant, you are responsible for executing a broad range of activities essential to developing, implementing, and maintaining our compliance and risk management frameworks. Your role is instrumental in supporting our operations under the E-Money Directive and its regulatory framework across the European Union.

Pliant's E-Money Institute is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Compliance and Risk Specialist to join our expanding Risk and Compliance team. Based in Helsinki or remotely, this role offers a dynamic and supportive environment where learning and career development are prioritized. As a Compliance and Risk Specialist, you will play a crucial supportive role, ensuring the team's effectiveness in managing compliance and mitigating risks across our operations.


The Compliance and Risk Specialist position at Pliant is ideal for individuals passionate about advancing their expertise in risk management and compliance within the evolving sector of financial services. WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Regulatory Reporting: Assist in the compilation of mandatory reports related to EU tax laws (CESOP, FATCA, CRS) and FIN-FSA financial reporting (Large Exposures, Credit and Non-Performing Assets, Own Funds, Solvency Requirements, Financial Statements). Help to ensure accuracy and timeliness to meet regulatory deadlines.
  • Asset Management: Manage third-party vendor and asset management processes. Evaluate and enhance operational procedures to ensure robust management of assets. Assess the performance and compliance of third-party vendors against contractual obligations and regulatory requirements.
  • ICT Third-Party Register: Maintain and update the ICT third-party register in accordance with DORA requirements. Ensure all data is current and accurately reflects vendor relationships and risk profiles.
  • Risk Assessment Workshops: Facilitate workshops to identify and assess compliance, financial, and operational risks. Engage with various stakeholders to foster a proactive risk management culture.
  • Compliance Training and Support: Develop and deliver training materials on AML, compliance, security, and operational risk. Build risk awareness among employees through regular training sessions and updates.
  • Audit Preparation: Support the preparation for internal and external audits. Gather necessary documentation and assist in the development of responses to audit findings.
  • Documentation: Draft and revise policies and procedures to ensure they are comprehensive, clear, and compliant with current regulations. Simplify complex regulatory content for ease of understanding across all departments.
  • Communication: Maintain effective communication with various teams within Pliant. Present compliance and risk proposals clearly and motivate team members to achieve high compliance standards. Support the cultivation of an open dialogue culture, emphasizing mutual respect and collaborative achievement.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

  • Experience: 1-3 years of experience in compliance, risk management, or a related role, ideally within a financial institution or fintech environment. Exposure to regulatory reporting, risk assessments, and compliance training would be advantageous.
  • Work Style: You are known for your diligent and proactive approach. Early career professionals who demonstrate strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently will thrive in this role.
  • Analytical Skills: You possess a structured mindset with the capacity for logical thinking and applying analytical methods. A keen eye for detail and a natural ability to identify risks and anomalies in data is crucial.
  • Communication: You have good communication and interpersonal skills, which enable you to interact effectively within the team and across the organization. Your ability to articulate complex concepts in a clear and understandable manner is important.
  • Knowledge and Expertise: Familiarity with basic governance standards such as ISO27001 or PCI-DSS is expected. While not required, knowledge of financial compliance regulations like CESOP, FATCA, and CRS, as well as an understanding of risk management principles, is beneficial.
  • Policy Development: You are capable of assisting in the drafting and revising of policies and procedures. Your role will include supporting the development and implementation of compliance practices and contributing to training sessions.
  • Collaboration and Adaptability: You are able to communicate clearly and adjust your communication style to suit different audiences. Your role will require collaboration with various departments, helping you to develop a broad understanding of the business and its compliance needs.
