ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Technical Product Manager – Payments (m/f/d) at Pliant, you will be responsible for one of our product development teams within the broader Product, Engineering, and Design organization, ensuring that our payment solutions are efficient, scalable, and reliable. You will take ownership of building and scaling payment workflows and integrations, leveraging banking APIs to enable account-to-account payments, implement direct debit schemes, and facilitate the processing and parsing of electronic bank statements within Pliant's B2B payments platform.
This role requires hands-on technical expertise, as you will collaborate directly with engineering teams to design solutions and address technical challenges.
WHAT YOU´LL DO
- Define and execute the product vision and roadmap for banking integrations, with a focus on account-to-account payments, including direct debit schemes based on industry standards such as SEPA, SWIFT, and BACS.
- Lead integrations with banking APIs of our international bank partners, ensuring seamless and secure connectivity.
- Optimize payment workflows to improve reliability, speed, and cost-efficiency for domestic and international transactions.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to design and implement payment features, serving as the technical bridge between business operations and development.
- Troubleshoot technical challenges to ensure system stability, resilience, and high availability of payment processes.
- Analyze payment data to identify bottlenecks, reduce transaction failures, and improve payment success rates.
- Act as a subject matter expert in account-to-account payment systems, direct debit schemes, and banking integrations, while staying ahead of trends in payments and banking technologies to identify opportunities for innovation and differentiation.
WHAT YOU´LL BRING
- 3+ years of product management experience in fintech or payments, with a strong focus on account-to-account payments and banking integrations.
- Deep understanding of payment systems and standards, including SEPA, SWIFT, BACS, and other relevant schemes.
- Hands-on technical skills, including proficiency in basic coding, API design, working with data formats like JSON and XML, and familiarity with SQL and BI tools for data analysis, ensuring seamless collaboration with engineering teams.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data to drive decisions, optimize processes, and solve complex problems.
- Excellent communication skills to translate technical concepts into actionable insights for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Demonstrated success in managing complex, cross-functional projects in a fast-paced, international environment.
- Fluency in English; proficiency in German or additional European languages is a plus.
