Join us as a Freelancer, fully remote based in Cyprus - Technical On-Call Specialist (Fintech Operations & Card Payments) *Cyprus* (m/f/d) and play a crucial role in optimizing and safeguarding global payment operations. This is your chance to engage deeply with the fintech world, focusing on technology, payments, and financial operations at a leading fintech company specializing in card payments and Cards-as-a-Service (CaaS).

Working hours:

Fridays: 12:00 – 20:00 CET

Saturdays & Sundays: 09:00 – 17:00 CET

Mondays: 08:00 – 12:00 CET

Other 12h to allocate in 2 shifts between Mon-Fri

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Incident Detection & Real-Time Monitoring:

  • Monitor live payment transactions and APIs, identifying and responding to anomalies in real time.
  • Investigate and analyze payment issues like failures, delays, and unexpected declines using detailed logs and dashboards.
  • Work collaboratively with developers to pinpoint and resolve bugs impacting payment systems.

Payment Processing & Automation:

  • Streamline and enhance payment workflows, contributing to the automation of reconciliation and reporting processes.
  • Oversee the execution of card payments, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and smooth processing of authorizations and settlements.
  • Assist in the implementation of automated tools to support the engineering team.
  • Collaborate with product and other departments to improve operational efficiency and scalability.

Data-Driven Problem Solving & Reporting:

  • Utilize SQL, Python, or other programming tools to extract, analyze, and report on payment data.
  • Engage with finance, compliance, and risk teams to maintain and ensure adherence to regulatory standards.

Ticket Management & DevOps Collaboration:

  • Manage, log, and track incidents efficiently using tools like Jira (incl. Jira Ticketing architecture).
  • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration with developers and operations teams to enhance process automations.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

Technical Proficiency:

  • Strong foundational skills in SQL, Python, or other scripting languages; experience in debugging and automating reports is highly desirable.
  • Basic Java or other additional coding knowledge and experience is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of development life-cycle (SDLC)
  • A basic knowledge in payment APIs, financial transactions, and real-time monitoring tools.
  • Prior experience with data analysis, error logs, or DevOps tools, either from academic projects or previous employment.

Industry Knowledge:

  • A basic to intermediate understanding of payments, banking, or reconciliation workflows.
  • Familiarity with fintech systems and how payment flows are managed.
  • Basic knowledge of card payments infrastructure and card schemes.
  • Experience in fintech or banking industry is a plus.

Problem-Solving & Curiosity:

  • Excellent analytical abilities with a structured approach to problem-solving.
  • Keen to learn and understand the intricate details of fintech systems and operations.
  • Ability to work and deliver results independently as a role is shift based.

Communication & Ownership:

  • Effective communicator capable of translating technical data into clear, actionable insights and collaborating with non-technical teams.
  • Independent and proactive, ready to take responsibility for critical monitoring and operational tasks.
