About Pliant

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a (Senior) Sales Engineer at Pliant, you will operate at the intersection of Sales, Product, Compliance, Operations, and Engineering. You are the trusted technical partner for sales during the sales cycle and the internal orchestrator who ensures deals progress without friction.

Your responsibilities will span two key areas:

  • Customer-Facing Sales Engineering - helping prospects understand Pliant, running technical demos, advising on integrations, and translating requirements into solutions.
  • Internal Pipeline Enablement & Blocker Resolution - using data, cross-functional coordination, and best practices to unblock deals and ensure smooth handovers.

This is a high-impact hybrid role ideal for someone who enjoys both customer interaction and internal enablement. You will report directly to our VP of Growth.
This role is a hybrid role, based in Berlin, Germany.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

1. Pipeline Progression & Internal Blocker Resolution

  • Work closely with Sales Managers to identify friction points in active deals and drive resolution across internal teams.
  • Coordinate with Product, Engineering, Compliance, and Operations to ensure clear timelines and expectations during the sales cycle.
  • Track internal requests and follow-ups, ensuring blockers are resolved quickly and transparently.
  • Support approvals, onboarding questions, edge cases, system configurations, and custom requirements.

2. Customer-Facing Technical Partner

  • Support in product demos and lead technical discovery to understand their workflows, integration needs, and operational requirements.
  • Explain and have a deep understanding of Pliant’s technical capabilities (APIs, integrations, card features, spend rules, onboarding flows, etc.) in a simple and compelling way.
  • Draft solution proposals, feasibility assessments, and architectural guidance for large customers.
  • Partner with Product to represent the “voice of the customer” and identify feature gaps or new opportunities.

3. Data-Driven Sales Support & Insights

  • Analyze CRM and operational data to spot bottlenecks that slow down deals or reduce conversion.
  • Build playbooks, templates, evaluation guides, and repeatable frameworks that increase sales velocity.
  • Recommend improvements to internal processes and tools to increase efficiency and reduce operational overhead.

4. Best Practices, Knowledge Sharing & Enablement

  • Create internal documentation and guides on common use cases, integration paths, compliance requirements, and technical constraints.
  • Train Sales team members on core product knowledge, technical nuances, and how to position Pliant effectively.
  • Ensure consistent communication of technical best practices across Sales, Partnerships, Customer Success, and Operations.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

  • 3-5 years in Sales (Engineering), revenue operations, technical consultant/sales role or similar. Big plus if you’ve been in the B2B or fintech space (Series A-C stage).
  • Communication talent - you’re able to communicate and explain complex technical concepts to our prospective and existing clients with both technical and non technical backgrounds.
  • Solid analytical abilities and comfort working with data to identify challenges or gaps.
  • Experience collaborating with Product, Engineering, or Operations teams.
  • Technical knowledge - no need to be a developer but you should be familiar with technical concepts and have a strong understanding of APIs
  • Fluency in English is required, German is a plus.
