Your mission and responsibilities
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Software Engineer to join our core engineering team in Berlin or Saarbrücken (no relocation offered). This is a hands-on role for a builder who is passionate about creating the foundational architecture that powers our AI testing platform. You will be instrumental in helping to shape the future of AI-driven technologies, with immediate ownership and impact on a product that addresses a critical, unsolved problem in the AI ecosystem. Your work won't sit in a research notebook; it will ship to our customers, solving real problems at scale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop core framework components and backend services that execute AI evaluation workloads and store processed results.
  • Contribute to workflow orchestration and job management systems handling complex, compute-intensive processing pipelines.
  • Build integration between AI evaluation frameworks and backend services.
  • Optimize system performance by implementing parallel processing, batch processing, caching strategies, and efficient resource utilization.
  • Collaborate with product managers and data scientists to understand requirements and translate them into robust and scalable technical solutions.
Your profile
  • 5+ years of software engineering experience, preferably on AI-heavy products, data platforms, or in the cybersecurity industry.
  • Expert-level Python skills with advanced development experience in plugin systems, component frameworks, and asynchronous/concurrent processing patterns.
  • Experience designing and building backend services and APIs that run and orchestrate complex, compute-intensive jobs.
  • Experience integrating with modern AI technology stacks, including AI service APIs, cloud storage systems, and data processing frameworks.
  • Familiarity with containerization and container orchestration platforms (Kubernetes) for jobs execution.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills with a professional attitude and commitment to high code quality standards.
  • Self-motivated with a strong initiative and the ability to drive technical decisions in fast-paced environments.
  • Basic understanding of AI/ML concepts (no deep expertise required).
  • Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
Why us?
This role is not just about managing code; it's about building the foundation of a world-class technology and a purpose-driven culture. We are at a pivotal moment, moving from foundational research to scalable software, and you will be a key partner in this journey.

A Unique Opportunity for Growth & Impact
  • You'll Be a Builder: As a member of our dynamic engineering team, you won’t be confined to a rigid, pre-defined role. This is a rare opportunity to directly shape our core platform architecture and build scalable systems from the ground up.
  • Your Work Will Shape the Future of AI: We are looking for someone who is not afraid to challenge the status quo. You will be instrumental in automating processes and evolving our technology, ensuring we can scale efficiently. This is a chance to move beyond daily tasks and innovate in a crucial field, setting you on a path to a high-impact, long-term career.
  • You Will Be Part of Something Bigger: Our mission is to make AI trustworthy and ethical. This is one of the biggest and most crucial topics of our time, and you will be supporting the brilliant minds who are solving this challenge. You will play a direct role in creating a platform that enables this groundbreaking work, ultimately helping to set standards that will shape our future.
  • The Berlin/Saarbrücken Advantage: You’ll work at the crossroads of two unique ecosystems: Saarbrücken, Germany’s leading AI research hotspot and home to CISPA, where our roots lie, and Berlin, the country’s most vibrant and diverse startup hub. This shapes who we are: a team that combines scientific excellence with a bold, fast-moving spirit. It's okay to work primarly remote with flexible arrangements. However, it’s important to us that you’re able to join special meetings or key events at one of our offices when needed, as we value the power of human connection.
Note: We are committed to equal opportunities and warmly welcome everyone. If you need any adjustments during the application process, please feel free to let us know at any time.

While people from traditionally marginalized groups often tend to apply only when they meet all the criteria, studies show that men are more likely to apply if they meet at least 60% of the requirements. If you believe you have the skills and qualifications for this role, even if you don’t tick every box, we strongly encourage you to apply. We’d love to get to know you and see whether this could be a great fit.
