Drone Pilot / UAV Operator (m/f/d)
Bensheim, Germany
Posted on Sep 7, 2026
What to expect
- Real missions, real responsibility: You work on a system that protects lives in an emergency, not a concept but a running operation.
- High responsibility: You ensure a safe flight, react to the situation in the air during the mission and make sound decisions, even under time pressure.
- 24/7 shift operation: Emergencies don't keep office hours. We work in shifts so someone is always ready to fly, at night, on weekends, on public holidays. You are part of that.
- Pre-flight checks, flight clearance & flight execution: You check airspace and weather before the mission and continuously during the flight, monitor our drone systems and thereby ensure safe operations at all times. You decide whether we fly, and take responsibility for it.
- Situational awareness & monitoring: You monitor several systems in parallel, spot risks early and intervene proactively.
- Interface to the dispatch centre: You are in direct contact with dispatch centres, incident commanders and, when needed, other airspace users. Your communication is clear, calm and precise.
- Shaping, not just flying: You share your experience from the cockpit with our product team so software and hardware get better with every mission.
Who we are looking for
- Drone experience: You have hands-on experience with drones or other aviation systems. The platform is secondary, a sense of responsibility is what matters.
- Resilience under stress: You make decisions even with incomplete information and stay capable of acting.
- 24/7 readiness: Shift work including nights, weekends and public holidays is not a dealbreaker for you, it's part of the job.
- Fast reaction time: When the alert comes in, seconds count. You grasp situations quickly, switch straight into mission mode and reach full concentration within moments.
- Error culture: Mistakes happen. You address them openly instead of hiding them, because that is the only way our flight operation stays safe.
- Communication: You speak fluent German and confident English.
This is not a rigid list of requirements, it is a direction. If you recognise yourself in some of these points and want to help build professional remote UAV operations at a start-up from the ground up, get in touch.
